Eric Wallace is Professor of biomechanics and sports technology and Director of the Sport and Exercise Sciences Research Institute at Ulster University. He was awarded his undergraduate degree in education and physical education by Queen’s University, Belfast in 1979, a Masters’ degree in ergonomics by the University of California in 1981 and his PhD in mechanical engineering by Ulster University in 1992.Eric teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and has acted as external examiner on a number of sports science and technology courses across the UK and Ireland.His research interests are on the biomechanics of sport, with a particular focus on golf biomechanics and the effects of technology on performance. He has published over 100 papers around these themes, and has delivered keynote lectures and workshops at academic conferences and professional meetings at home and abroad over the last 20 years.Eric is the Biomechanics Section Editor for the Journal of Sports Sciences and a member of the editorial boards of other international sport and technology/ engineering academic journals. He has been awarded over £1 million in research funding from external sources including the British Research Councils, European Union and International Governing Bodies of Sport. He has supervised 20 PhD students to completion and has been an external examiner for a number of PhD students from home and abroad. He has collaborated and undertaken golf research with a number of international bodies, including The R&A, the USGA and the PGA of America.
