Research Interests
Coastal geomorphologist with interests in many aspects of physical processes, hazards, and management of coastal zones. My research methods range from field measurements to remote sensing and GIS analyses.
Primary research foci are sediment transport, storm impact and monitoring of sandy and gravelly beaches in different wave and tidal environments. Recently, I worked on shoreline change analyses over the last two centuries to better understand long-term drivers of coastal change.
Teaching Interests
In the past, I have taught modules on geomorphology and physical geography, and rocks. At Ulster University, I teach or I have taught the following modules:
- EGM105* - The Lithosphere (Semester 2)
- EGM116* - Environmental Systems (Semester 1)
- EGM117* - Introduction to Marine Systems (Semester 1)
- EGM351* - Research Methods and Field School (Semester 2)
- EGM327* - Coastal & Marine Processes (Semester 2)
- EGM505* - Environmental Change (Semester 1)
- EGM711 - Principles of GIS (Semester 1)
- EGM802* - Environmental Data Analysis (Semester 1)
* - one or more components of module
