Research Interests

Coastal geomorphologist currently working on the morphodynamics of meso- and macrotidal beaches of Northern Ireland. My previous research interests have mainly focused on the storm response of sandy and coarse-grained beaches. My PhD work, broadly based on the morphodynamics of some Mediterranean mixed sand and gravel beaches, allowed to determine better characteristics of fill material for gravel nourishment projects, using an RFID technique to track coarse sediment transport. Recently, I also focused on the sediment interactions between river and coast taking part in a two-years monitoring plan of bed load transport measurements on three rivers and subsequent bathymetric surveys at their river mouths. Within a context of increased human pressure along coastlines, these studies are closely related to climate change topics like sea level rise, increased storminess and their impacts on coastal environment.
