Personal profile
Biography
Dhanalakshmi Silamban holds a Master’s degree in Geo-Technology and Geo-Informatics with specialization in Remote Sensing and GIS. Her expertise spans spatial data analysis, image processing, shoreline change detection, hazard and vulnerability mapping, and geospatial modeling using platforms such as ArcGIS, QGIS, ENVI, ERDAS, and Global Mapper. With strong skills in GPS data integration, Arcpy scripting, and database management, she is dedicated to applying geospatial technologies to investigate coastal dynamics and address pressing environmental and socio-economic challenges under changing climatic conditions. She is currently a PhD researcher at Ulster University, focusing on coastal geomorphology and environmental change analysis.
Research Interests
Coastal dynamics, sea-level rise, glacial and periglacial impacts on coastal systems, environmental change assessment, spatial modeling, photogrammetry, hazard and vulnerability mapping, and climate change impacts.
PhD Researcher Profile
Dhanalakshmi Silamban is a PhD researcher at Ulster University investigating coastal dynamics and environmental change in the context of climate variability. Her research focuses on assessing the impacts of sea-level rise, glacial and periglacial processes, and anthropogenic pressures on coastal systems. She employs advanced Remote Sensing, GIS, and photogrammetry techniques for shoreline monitoring, hazard mapping, and geospatial modeling. Her work aims to improve understanding of coastal vulnerability and inform sustainable management strategies under changing climatic conditions.
