Biography

Davide Mariotti joined Ulster University in 2009 and was promoted to Professor in 2015. Davide's research interests are in the areas of advanced functional materials and plasma science. Recent funded work has included biomedical applications and materials for solar energy conversion.Davide has studied in Italy (Universita’ Politecnica delle Marche) and then in UK (Ulster University), where he was awarded with a PhD in 2002. From 2004 he then worked in USA (Rochester Institute of Technology, NY) and in Japan (AIST, Tsukuba) before returning to Ulster University in 2009. Davide has a leading international role in plasma-based synthesis of nanomaterials at atmospheric pressure. His Research Group now covers a range of activities within Plasma Science and Nanoscale Engineering with several projects funded from EPSRC, EU, Leverhulme Trust, Royal Society etc. His Group has extensive expertise in the development of plasma systems for the synthesis of a wide range of materials and include facilities for the fabrication and testing of solar cell devices.
