Biography
David Capener is an architect, artist, educator, writer and curator. He recently designed and curated Entanglement the Irish Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale and am co-editor and author of the recently published book Entanglement, Data in the Irish Landscape (2021).
As part of the Digital Studies Network, founded by philosopher Bernard Stiegler (1952-2020) he completed his Marie Currie funded PhD, The Production of Space in the Infrasomatic City. The thesis investigates to what extent our contemporary technological condition curtails the performance of the right to the city? It does so by investigating technologies of automated image production. The hypothesis of this thesis is that philosopher Henri Lefebvre’s The Production of Space (1991) remains a useful conceptual tool for understanding the production of space in our age of contemporary technics.
David has a proven record of high-quality research and teaching in architecture and other associated subjects. He is the co-editor and author of the recently published book Entanglement (2021). He has a chapter in the forthcoming book The Physical and the Digital City: Invisible Forces, Data and Manifestations (2023).
