Biography

Cristiana Giglio is a geologist, specialized in marine environment. She currently employs a PhD research position with an interest in stratigraphy, geomorphology and seismic data interpretation, falling under the Quaternary period. She is focussing on the extent and comparison of two past ice sheets, in their southern sectors: the British-Irish Ice Sheet (BIIS) and the Newfoundland Ice Sheet (NIS). Their both represent key sites for examining ice sheet-ocean-climate interactions using sediment cores and marine geophysical data. 

During her university career, she gained practice in the marine field being also involved in two reasearch cruises (R/V Minerva) such as for an internship project (SAND_16, CNR Bologna Section) and the master thesis project (PANTHER, Eurofleets2). On that last, she has carried out a post-graduate intership at University of Ulster based on sedimentological and micropaleontological techniques in marine cores
