Biography

Cara Rose is a PhD researcher in the School of Engineering at Ulster University, Belfast, U.K. She received the M.Eng. degree in mechatronic engineering from Ulster University, Belfast, U.K., and the M.Eng. degree in mechatronic systems from Technische Hochschule Augsburg, Germany in 2023. Her major field of study is UAV control and obstacle avoidance. 
Her research focuses on advanced control methods and obstacle avoidance strategies for unmanned aerial vehicles operating in complex environments.

She teaches and mentors engineering students at the undergraduate level, supporting their development through laboratory, tutorial, and project-based learning. She has also contributed to outreach and engagement activities aimed at increasing the participation of women in STEM, developing projects and initiatives designed to inspire and support future engineers. She is a Member of the IEEE. She is involved in STEM outreach networks and has received recognition for her contributions to promoting gender diversity in engineering.
