Biography

Brian is a Registered Nurse, Lecturer in Higher Education Practice and Senior Fellow of Advance HE.
Brian has expertise in all aspects of pedagogy and the influence it has on the student experience. He is particularly interested in, authentic assessment design and rubric construction, Academic Self-Efficacy, and the contribution it makes to confidence and motivation. Brian is currently focused on the impact that AI has on the university experience for staff and students.

 

Research Interests

Brian's research interests are about all aspects of inclusive pedagogy and authentic assessment. In particular he is interersted in academic self efficacy, artificial intelligence and developing higher education literacies.

Teaching Interests

Brian's teaching interests focus upon pedagogy, learning and teaching methods, curriculum design, learning outcome construction, assessment design/redesign, understanding and enhancing student engagement and evaluation techniques. He is particularly interested in enabling engagement through the development of inclusive practice.

Brian is the MEd Course Director and teaches the first module on the PGCHEP.
