Personal profile

Biography

Trained as a Registered Sick Children's Nurse I cared for children and their families in ICU and burns. I developed my career into education based on my interest in learning and teaching and I'm currently a lecturer in higher education practice in Ulster University.
I am interested in pedagogy and the influence it has over practice in higher education. I am also fascinated by academic self-efficacy and how it can be maintained and enhanced. I also like to think I'm methodologically flexible.

Research Interests

My research interests are around academic self-efficacy and the factors that enhance or inhibit it's development.

Teaching Interests

As a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, (SFHEA), my teaching interests focus upon leading development in pedagogy and learning and teaching methods. I am the Course Director for the postgraduate certificate in education for healthcare professionals and I teach assessment redesign on the MEd.
