Beverley McCormick is Course Director of the PGCE Primary programme at Ulster University, where she lectures in primary education and initial teacher education. Her teaching and research focus on innovative pedagogical approaches that guide students towards high-quality teaching and learning in primary schools.
Beverley's research explores teacher confidence and self-efficacy in STEM professional development, integrated STEM education, and the use of creative pedagogies to promote collaboration, reflective practice and social cohesion. A certified LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® facilitator, she is particularly interested in the application of collaborative, metaphor-based approaches to leadership development, professional learning and educational practice.
She is Co-Chair of the Education Ethics Committee at Ulster University and contributes to national STEM education policy and practice through her membership of the UK Primary Science Education Group (UKPSEG) and the Northern Ireland Assembly All-Party Group on STEM. Beverley is also a recognised STEM Ambassador and maintains strong links with the STEM and educational technology sectors, drawing on previous international experience as an educational technology specialist to inform her teaching, research and collaborative partnerships.
Before joining Ulster University in 2022, Beverley worked as a primary school teacher and in international educational technology, supporting the development and implementation of innovative digital learning solutions.
