Biography
David Farrell-Banks is a research associate on the Museums, Crisis and Covid-19 project (PI: Prof Elizabeth Crooke). His research interests are in public uses of and interaction with the past. He completed his doctoral studies at Newcastle University in 2021, focusing on uses of European pasts in heritage and political discourse. Prior to this he gained an MA in Heritage Studies from Newcastle University, graduating in 2016, and an undergraduate MA in Geography and Archaeology from the University of Edinburgh in 2015.
David has published research work on topics including: right wing extremist uses of the 1683 Siege of Vienna; uses of Magna Carta in digital political discourse; and archaeology as a positive work environment for adults with autism. He is currently working on a monograph to be published in 2022.
