Biography

Dr. Alok Joshi is a Research Associate in Computational Neuroscience in the School of Computing and Intelligent Systems, Faculty of Computing and Engineering, Ulster University. Prior to this position, he was a research associate in the School of Computer Science, the University of Manchester, and was a part of the Advanced Processor Technologies Research Group led by Professor Steve Furber. Before joining this group, he worked as a research associate in the Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Manchester and was a part of the collaborative, multidisciplinary Human Frontier Science Program project. He completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science (with the specialisation in Computational Neuroscience) from the Ulster University, Northern Ireland, UK.

Dr. Joshi's research interests involve the analysis and interpretation of complex biological data, development of computational modelling approaches to improve our understanding of brain functions, and links to physiology and behaviour, data science, and biologically inspired artificial intelligence. He is an invited reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals and is a member of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the British Neuroscience Association (BNA).
