Phd Researcher Profile

My PhD studentship is entitled: Retrieving social theories from the (recent) past that might speak to social understanding today. This project is currently funded by the Department for the Economy (DfE).  

My research is primarily within in the areas of sociological and social theory. Specifically, this has a focus on the reinterpretation of Herbert Spencer's social thought.

I am also interested in theories of welfare and the philosophy of (social) science. 

Background:

I graduated from Ulster University in 2017, with a BSc degree in social psychology (first class). Thereafter, I completed one year of doctoral training in the same subject, also at Ulster. In 2019 I was awarded my masters degree (MRes) in social science from Queen's University, Belfast for my thesis entitled: The Epistemology and Methodology of Social Science Research: A Narrative Review and Synthesis
