AJ is a Lecturer in Adult Nursing at Ulster University, where he teaches and contributes to modules focused on anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, research, and cardiovascular health assessment.
He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) with Advance HE, and an instructor for Resuscitation UK’s Immediate Life Support (ILS). AJ also holds a Diploma in electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation from the Society for Cardiac Science and Technology (SCST).
AJ is an active member of the Association of Cardiovascular Nursing and Allied Professions (ACNAP) and the Heart Failure Association (HFA), both affiliated with the European Society of Cardiology. He is a member of ACNAP’s Education Committee and is a National Contact for the Young Community Committee (2024-2026).
Currently pursuing a PhD, AJ’s research focuses on co-developing and testing the feasibility of a hybrid cardiac rehabilitation programme for people with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HYPRE-HFpEF).
