Personal profile

Research Interests

Oluwasola Ademulegun, Associating in Research at Ulster University, is an Energy Scholar keen on Sustainability: Environment, Society, Economy and Equity. He is enthusiastic about the development of wind energy in the UK, solar energy in Africa and part of Australia, and sustainable energy systems everywhere. Working at the Centre for Sustainable Technologies, he investigates how energy storage could benefit electricity system in terms of achieving energy sustainability through optimal deployment of storage and flexibility techniques. While the current energy system utilises a lot of fossil fuel – with the accompanying pollutions, adverse climate effects, and energy security risks – he seeks real techniques for maximising the use of the available renewable energy resources in Northern Ireland.

His research specifically seeks to understand the locational benefits of deploying mass energy storage techniques in supporting grid-integration of variable renewables while systematically retiring polluting fossil fuel-based power plants.

New strategies and policies are formed for increased integration of the renewable resources into the electricity system in achieving utility, national, regional, and global sustainability targets within specific timeframes.
