Biography

Tony Wall joined Ulster University in 1999 after a variety of jobs in both the private and public sector. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics. His main teaching areas are strategy and corporate governance; however he has also taught introductory financial and management accounting, key results measurement and various information technology practical classes.He has taught at undergraduate, postgraduate and professional level. He is a member of the Business and Management Research Institute and his main areas of research are public-private partnerships (PPPs), narrative reporting and gender studies. In 2011 he was awarded the Fulbright Northern Ireland Public Sector Fellowship, which allowed him to spend three months at George Washington University studying PPPs.He has had a number of articles, research reports and book chapters published in the above research areas, as well as publications in intellectual capital, performance measurement and management, international financial reporting standards, best value and the academic use of social media sites.  He has spoken at a number of seminars and national and international conferences. He has held a number of positions outside the university and is currently the treasurer and a trustee of the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship and an external examiner at Queen’s University Belfast and for the Institute of Banking in Dublin. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority and is currently a member of the University’s Research Ethics Committee.
