Ulster University contribution has enabled transforming the filtering pieces into processable pellets using their extruder at the Northern Ireland Advanced Composite Engineering Centre (NIACE) in Belfast, where Ulster University undertakes research and development on polymer composite materials with industrial partners.  Dr. Edward Archer from Ulster University has conducted research in plastics and composites for some time with his PhD student Sean Duffy. Dr. Cristina Crespo from ITAINNOVA is leading high-impact award-winning research in circular solutions for used FFP2 masks.
