Description

Your City Your Voice Belfast is part of a UK-wide Arts & Humanities Research Council funded project called Community Consultation for Quality of Life (CCQoL), led by University of Reading. CCQOL is focused on improving digital and physical engagement with both the public and public-private-professional stakeholders. Ulster University (Dr. Saul Golden as Belfat Project Lead and Co-investigator) is partnering with Schools of Architecture & Planning at Reading, Cardiff, and Edinburgh. The main aim is to test different ways to encourage greater public engagement on topics relevant to the city's future - gathering knowledge and working out post-pandemic tools as a pilot for more transparent outreach with more marginalised groups included. More details via this link: www.ccqol.org

The project involves designing and setting up an "urban room" in a public or public facing place to host/provide space for activities to engage with peers, students, local groups, and the public, to help gather and map views (digitally and physically) about people's perceptions of quality of life in Belfast. The Belfast urban room was established at 2Royal Avenue in partnership with Belfast City Council with a public residency in the Council owned venue from 5th to 27th September 2022 that included a mix of cultural activities and exhibitions, arts, music, and formal consultation workshops linked to mapping quality of life in Belfast city centre and gathering online survey data on community consultation. Over 475 survey results were received and the project collaborations included over 30 local and international organisations (academic, government, business, community-voluntary, and arts).
