Description
Dr Clare Gallagher, Cormac McArt from Westcourt Centre and a participant of the Women's Advocacy Group Project delivered a presentation at Belfast City Hall as part of the launch of Homelessness Awareness Week.We talked about the specific challenges of female homelessness and its invisibility in the wider public consciousness. We presented our methods from the series of photography workshops and discussed the impact of engaging participants in a group art project. We shared an image made by the group and one of the women generously shared her experiences of the workshops.
Impact focused on making visible marginalised experiences, building empathy, reducing stigma, creating outputs that evoked the women's experiences while permitting them dignity and anonymity, and producing advocacy materials with a wide reach.
