    Description

This symposium showcases and reflects on research findings from ‘Transitions: Architects-in-Practice working with Architects-in-Education’, led by David Coyles, Lecturer in Architecture at the University of Ulster. This academic research project investigates the relationship between the worlds of practice & education to address the core theme of employability and the underlying educational principle of student engagement. Through this project, students and professional architects collaborated to investigate and critique employability issues by working through, and reflecting on, project-based design scenarios that are typical to both the worlds of education and practice. The research methodology recognises the input from both sets of contributors as being equitable. Through active research, students critique their architectural curriculum and adopt the role of co-creators of their own research and learning.
