Description
My talk was about absence, and how lesbian historical fiction navigates it. Whether grieving for a dead loved one or grieving for lost lesbian afterlives, the genre seeks to write these ghostly traces back into a newly empowered Sapphic history while also respecting the trauma that follows this act of cultural remembering. Absence need not be mourning - it can in fact be a beginning.
