The Safe Staffing in Social Work Roundtable Conference brought key partners together to discuss the current concerns about social work workforce stability and sustainability in Northern Ireland. Safe Staffing legislation is due to be progress in the coming years, and the current discussion is part of policy development work in preparation for Safe Staffing in Social Work becoming law. The event was attended by Aine Morrison, Chief Social Worker, who commissioned a project led by Dr Paula McFadden on the current workforce analysis which will feed into policy guidance due to be released in 2024. Also in attendance were NI Social Care Council, Director of Regulation and Standards, Marian O'Rourke. All HSC Trusts Executive Directors, managers and front line social workers were represented as well as international speakers from Finland and US. This part of the project focuses on Safe Staffing in older people, children's and mental health services.
