Description

Richard Murphy founded his practice in 1991. Its early reputation was built on highly crafted and innovative domestic work in the Edinburgh area. The practice has since won an unprecedented 22 RIBA Awards, and has considerable experience in the Arts, Education, Housing, Health, Public and Community use and Masterplanning.
Richard’s mews housing at 17 Royal Terrace Mews in Edinburgh, and his Maggies Centre Edinburgh, were both nominated for the Stirling Prize, making Richard the first architect to be nominated twice for the UK’s premier architecture award. Richard’s own house, The Murphy House, was the 2016 RIBA House of the Year. His new book “Carlo Scarpa and Castelvecchio Revisited” is now available and has been effusively reviewed by Kenneth Frampton, Robert MacCarter, Fred Scott and Hugh Pearman.
