Reflecting on practice; illuminating pedagogical assumptions driving learning, teaching and assessment decisions

Activity: Talk or presentationInvited talk

Description

So what is this session about ?
The current pandemic has necessitated a shift from traditional face to face teaching to an online approach.
And in the light of that it is easy to become too focused on our “performance” and the how to of online teaching.
This runs the risk of losing sight of the student and their needs.
Given that the driver for change has been an external one and a global crisis; institutions responded and took responsibility for wholesale pedagogical shifts that best suit the needs of the many.
But what are the implications for individual educators?
The aim of this session is to discuss reflection as a tool to consider your current practice with a view to using it to highlight the assumptions that underpin your practice and thus strengthen your pedagogical foundations.
