Open Research & Innovation Steering Group, Sub-Committee of Research & Impact CommitteeOverall Aim:
To create a wider forum for discussion and consideration on changes to the system of scholarship, sustainability of current economic models of scholarship, access to publicly funded research, issues surrounding authors rights in the digital age, and new scholarly distribution systems and other connected open movements.
Objective:
To encourage and facilitate cultural change and increased visibility, structures and support of practices across the University.
Terms of Reference:
1. To develop and oversee the implementation of an Institutional Open Research roadmap and set the strategic direction for activities in support of Open Research within the University.
2. To oversee the formulation, monitoring, delivery and implementation of the University’s policies on Open Research practices including Open Access, the Reproducibility of Research, Research Integrity and Research Data Management;
3. To ensure institutional readiness in response to changing funder expectations and policy development in relation to Open Research practices;
4. To formalise and oversee communications around, promotion of, and training on Open Research practices;
5. To develop a programme of activities to raise awareness of Open Research and to develop capacity in these approaches.
6. To ensure and facilitate close working of all relevant services (eg: Library, ISD and R&I) in supporting Open Research;
7. To monitor compliance with external funders Open Research activities;
8. To advise and make recommendations to Research & Impact Committee on:
• policies relating to Open Research activities;
• systems and resources required to support Open Research activities.
