New Horizons in Obesity Care, Northern Ireland

The New Horizons in Obesity Care event was hosted by the Association for the Study of Obesity Northern Ireland Network in April 2026 at Riddel Hall, Queen’s University Belfast. As co-lead of the Northern Ireland Network, the event was designed to bring together a diverse range of stakeholders to explore how obesity care is evolving locally, share emerging evidence and practice, and create space for meaningful dialogue across sectors.

It brought together perspectives from clinical practice, research, and lived experience, with a particular focus on strengthening connections across the health and social care system in Northern Ireland. While each perspective was distinct, a consistent message emerged: obesity care is evolving, and there is a strong foundation already in place to support more coordinated, compassionate, and effective approaches.
