Description
Those with CP have often been assumed to have pain experiences which are equivalent to healthy adults or those with other pain conditions. The first year of this programme of research explores this assumption in a large cohort study titled "Examining How Physical, Emotional, and Social Factors Affect Pain and Its Impact on Quality of Life and Motor Function in Adults with Cerebral Palsy."Results of the study, which includes data from non-disabled adults, adults with chronic pain conditions and adults with CP who have everyday pain and who have no pain, will be presented.
Separately, this research also involves establishing pathways to inclusion of adults with CP in research, which is hoped can be used as part of this project but also shared with others working in research with this population. In this session, insights from the co-produced, systematic review, "Enhancing Inclusivity in Research Involvement for Adults with Cerebral Palsy", will be discussed. This review highlights best practices for making research accessible and inclusive for adults with CP, and specific guidance for the conduct of research arising from this review has been developed in collaboration with service users and stakeholders, with insights and suggestions for improvements.
