Background and Rationale for the event
The past number of years has witnessed the development of knowledge, interest and understanding of the needs of young people with ASC and provision in this area of CYW practice. The courses offered in Ulster University have witnessed increased numbers of students and practitioners developing a range of programmes and carrying out research on the experiences of young people with ASC and the role of youth work. Emerging themes include gaps in training and provision, understanding need and ensuring participation and inclusion and issue such as mental health, isolation and emotional well-being.
The conference welcomed local, regional, national and international speakers and community youth work providers working in the area of Autism Spectrum Conditions.
