Fire Safety Education Curriculum Development and Review

Activity: Participating in or organising an eventOrganising a conference, workshop, ...

Description

As part of the impact of my PhD at Ulster University, a Fire Safety Educational Programme was co-produced for integration into Ghana’s National Primary School Curriculum. The initiative aims to heighten children's awareness of fire risks and foster generational learning across Ghana and the wider African continent. To facilitate this, a two-week workshop was held in Ghana with key co-production partners, including Ulster University, the Ghana National Fire Service, the Ghana Education Service, and the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment. The launch received significant national attention, with the opening meeting and subsequent 10-day review workshops reported on by national television, newspapers, and social media. This widespread visibility not only highlights the significance of the initiative but also demonstrates the strong and growing public interest in embedding fire safety education within Ghana’s school system.
