This academic conference is an accompaniment to the exhibition ‘Crown to Couture’ which opened on the 4th April 2023 and closes on the 29th October 2023. The exhibition brings together the culture of the Georgian royal court and the contemporary red carpet. This conference uses the exhibition’s provocative comparison of contemporary and modern creativity to generate fresh debate about the cultural history of the court. bringing academics into conversation with contemporary practitioners, including artists, stylists and actors.
