Description
The interdisciplinary field course ARCTIS2020 – [ARCT]ic[I]nterdisciplinary [S]tudies – is organised by the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists in Russia (APECS Russia) and UK Polar Network. The field course aims to strengthen expertise and foster links between the next generation of Arctic scientists and stakeholders from the United Kingdom and Russia, via in situ regional training (theoretical, practical and networking aspects) and cooperation, for future Arctic sustainability. ARCTIS covers all the main disciplines: Atmosphere, Cryosphere, Terrestrial, Marine and Social & Humanities. Being organised far from the marine environment, the training is focused on investigating the interconnections of local hydrological and atmospheric conditions and their connection to the Northern environmental system in general. The course is designed to create a fruitful and interactive platform to share ideas, exchange knowledge and gain new skills and experiences. This is done through developing collaborative science project concepts as a result of the field training (Mukhrino Research field station) and meetings with local stakeholders (scientists, indigenous people, oil industry representatives and conservation groups).Period | 17 Feb 2020 → 23 Feb 2020 |
