John Keers BL, Director of the Centre for Legal Technology, and Dr John McCord, Research Lead, were in London today and presented our work on the potential role of Agentic AI in judicial decision-making—a timely and vital area of research as AI becomes increasingly embedded in legal sector processes.

This Ulster University School of Law-led project is the only law-focused initiative supported by AISI and represents a significant opportunity for Northern Ireland to shape the conversation around safe, transparent, and ethical AI use within the justice system.

We are looking forward to working with the judiciary, policymakers, and the wider AI and legal communities to ensure that any future use of AI in the courts reflects the values of fairness, independence, and accountability.
